Preparing for the Mathematical Section of NAPLAN Tests

Mathematics is never a loved subject.

Generally, students prefer not to study the subject.

However, mathematics is an integral part of the NAPLAN tests, and the student has to perform satisfactorily in the test to get a better grade on the tests.

If your child or student does not like to work with mathematics, here is what you can do to make it fun:

  • Real Life Problems: The basic problem with mathematics as a subject is that the students do not understand what it means.

However, you can easily fix the issue by helping them understand the problems by giving the real-life problems.

Do not focus on the bookish problems, give your students an easy problem to solve first.
  • Focus on them understanding the logic: Formulas are the life and blood of the subject.

However, do not simply feed your students the formulas. Break the formula in such a manner that your child understands the logic behind the formula.

Help them solve easy questions first, and then move on to tougher ones.
  • Worksheets: Practising is the key to cracking the mathematical section of the exam.

Help your student or kid work on various questions. If you are dealing with a younger child, create some interactive maths worksheet with their favourite characters on the sheet.

With older children, jumble the questions and even out the distribution of difficult and easy questions.

Apart from this, remember to reward your child for every achievement. In this manner, your child will want to work harder the next time.

Worried about worksheets and practice tests?

Look up Subject Coach and find  a bundle of mathematical practice tests for your child according to whatever grade they are in.

Remember not pressurize your child; children do not work well under pressure.

Instead, help them understand the subject first.
